William Spear is a results-driven leader in the oil and gas industry, currently serving as the Vice President of Transformation at California Resources Corporation (CRC). With nearly two decades of experience spanning engineering, operations, drilling, transformation, and enterprise project management, he has been instrumental in driving efficiency, innovation, and strategic growth across multiple assets and functions.

In his current role, Will leads CRC’s first transformation office, overseeing the Aera-CRC merger integration and managing a team responsible for overseeing synergy value and functional integration. Under his leadership, the integration has accelerated synergy value capture, while also driving cultural alignment and best practice adoption across the organization.

Prior to CRC, Will held multiple senior leadership roles at Aera Energy LLC, including Vice President of Services & Transformation, where he managed operations across five major assets and oversaw a team of over 1,000 employees and contractors. Through the Aera Unlocked initiative, he led the enterprise project management function, unlocking $500 million in net cash flow through 500+ initiatives—an 11x improvement over prior company-wide initiatives.

With a strong background in engineering, operations, asset management, reservoir engineering, and safety leadership, Will has consistently delivered operational excellence, improved efficiency, cost optimization, and risk management while maintaining industry-leading environmental, health, and safety (EHS) performance metrics.

Will holds a Petroleum Engineering degree from Montana Technological University. A respected industry leader, he has played a key role in enterprise transformations, governance systems, and technical innovation, making a lasting impact on the sector.
