Operational Excellence in Oil and Gas LIVE
Add bookmarkIQPC’s 13th annual Operational Excellence in Oil and Gas conference got underway this week as over 300 senior level oil and gas executives gathered in Houston to debate, discuss and share the latest innovations and thinking on driving operational excellence in the industry.
This year’s summit is set against a backdrop of soaring energy prices, geopolitical instability and growing momentum of the energy transition. Further, oil and gas operators are grappling with a shortage of qualified skills and labour, a loss of products and services resulting from supply chain issues and continual change across all areas of the business.
Against this significant volatility, the message at this year’s conference is clear: operational excellence is not an option, it’s essential to succeed in today’s economic and political environment.
A few highlights so far:
The conference opened with a high-level panel discussion talking about aligning strategic priorities with front-line operations as the industry confronts decarbonization, oil price volatility, technology disruption, and ever-changing government regulations.
John Dale, Managing Director, Global Energy Practice Leader, ALULA chaired the discussion of Donna Birbiglia, Technical Vice President at Shell Shales, Grigor Bambekov, Senior Vice President, Business Transformation at Delek, and Vineeta Maguire, Vice President Supply Management at Ovintiv.
Leadership is always essential to driving operational excellence throughout an organization. Becky Peavler, Director, Operations Excellence at ConocoPhillips and Srinivasan Vanchinathan, Director, Refining Digital Operations at Phillips 66 discussed the ins and outs of establishing a performance-centric culture.
The conference also had the big picture future of the industry in its sight as OGGN's Mark LaCour interviewed Shell USA President Gretchen Watkins on the challenge of maintaining operational excellence while balancing energy security and rapid decarbonization.
The 3-day event wraps up later today. A big thank you to our speakers, delegates and sponsors for your thoughtful contributions and inspired sessions.
