December 7th, 1926 – a great day for….kitchenware. And by extension modern civilisation.
You may scoff, as kitchenware and the progress of humanity would not seem to be mutually inclusive but this day 86 years ago, saw the patenting of the refrigerator by The Electrolux Servel Corporation. For the first time the common man and woman would have the ability to store food for long periods at home without the costly importation of ice or digging cellars. And all thanks to a handy gas-powered cooling mechanism.
